The self-monitoring monitor in this undated photo provided by Apple Inc. shows a screen on the front of the device.
The display is set to display the time in minutes, hours and seconds, and the screen on its back is set for a constant temperature.
The device, which has been in use for months, was designed to keep an eye on the environment around the home.
The new display has a wide range of colors and a white back, with a color-blind mode to make it easier for the person with a white skin tone to use the screen.

The product, a 5K monitor that has been used for months by people with color-impaired skin, will be paid for through a loan.
Apple said it is using the money to replace a screen that is out of warranty and is no longer usable.
The loan will cover the cost of new screens, and to repair the display.
Apple plans to offer a range of new products, including a new iPhone with a new touch-screen interface.
